During the 2025 U.S. Chamber of Commerce CO-100 Awards, ASBN caught up with Porsche Williams, CEO of The Prototype, who shares about turning her experience as a new mother into a thriving business supporting designers.
Founded in 2016 and based in Frisco, Texas, The Prototype initially provided executive support and has since pivoted to serve interior design firms.
The agency helps these firms manage backend operations —such as client management, lead generation, and day-to-day operations —so designers can focus on creating beautiful spaces.
Williams was inspired to start the business during a period when she felt overwhelmed as a new wife and mother. She wondered how the individuals she admired managed to juggle it all so seamlessly. In connecting with others, she discovered that many had hired assistance to help them put their best foot forward.
"Do it scared. Entrepreneurship is full of ups and downs... Just do it. Even if you're scared, you'll figure it out."
Looking ahead, Williams aims to grow The Prototype to support more luxury firms, strengthen infrastructure, and establish a stronger foothold and visibility in the interior design industry. She advises aspiring entrepreneurs to take the leap, even if they feel fear or don’t have all the answers—solutions will come along the way.
