At the 2025 U.S. Chamber of Commerce CO-100 Awards, ASBN spotlighted innovative small business leaders making an impact in their communities. Among the honorees was Josh Funk, founder of Rehab 2 Perform, a fitness-focused physical therapy company that blends healthcare and athletics. Funk shares how his personal experiences as a collegiate athlete inspired a business that helps clients recover safely, stay active, and maintain a sense of identity through every stage of rehabilitation.
Rehab 2 Perform specializes in physical therapy, sports rehab, concussion care, and pelvic health. While the company works with youth, high school, college, and professional athletes, a large portion of its clientele consists of former athletes and active adults seeking to regain fitness and mobility. Funk’s approach emphasizes education, personalized care, and creating a supportive environment that makes rehab both effective and enjoyable, turning what can be a “grudge purchase” into a positive, empowering experience.
“We will work with anybody that has the mindset of ‘I want to be pushed appropriately’... so it’s a win-win all around.”
Since launching, the company has grown to 14 locations across Maryland, Virginia, and the DC metro area, with plans to reach 17 locations by mid-2026. Funk’s advice to entrepreneurs is to build businesses around passion and experience, showing that turning personal expertise into a business can make a meaningful impact on people’s lives.
