Salesforce is expanding its Agentforce platform with job-ready AI agents designed to automate complex, longer-term tasks across sales, customer service, HR and other business functions.
Unlike basic chatbots that handle simple questions, Salesforce’s new agents can manage tasks over longer periods, learn from interactions and adapt as circumstances change. They can also work alongside other agents across departments.
The agents come with industry-specific skills and knowledge, allowing small businesses to deploy them without building AI systems from scratch. Carter, for example, helps shoppers discover products and complete purchases through chat, while Paige handles employee HR and IT questions.
Businesses report early results
Salesforce said companies using Agentforce have already seen measurable results. Its Eva help agent resolved 50% of chat inquiries autonomously, while 90% of shopper interactions were managed by AI within six weeks.
The company said these applications show how businesses can use AI to automate routine work while letting employees focus on more complex responsibilities.
Supporting longer-term work
Salesforce also introduced a long-horizon runtime designed to help AI agents maintain context and make progress across multiple sessions.
Hunter, the company’s sales agent, can use the technology to execute a multi-week strategy to revive at-risk deals. The agent can adjust its approach as new information becomes available rather than treating each interaction as an isolated task.
AI adoption still requires planning
While job-ready agents can reduce the need for businesses to develop AI capabilities internally, implementation still requires investment, employee training, configuration and ongoing management.
Salesforce plans to introduce additional tools that allow businesses to teach agents company-specific knowledge, coordinate multiple agents and continuously improve their performance. Its Agentforce Coworker initiative is also designed to help employees work alongside AI agents in their daily workflows.
